Campaigns & tracked links
Group sends into a campaign with shareable links, QR codes, and one roll-up report.
Marketing → Emails lists every marketing email your store has ever composed — whether it stands alone or belongs to a campaign. Each email carries its own audience; the campaign, when there is one, is just the reporting container the send rolls up into. Subject, preview text, and content are edited in the full-screen email builder, never in a form or modal.
You can search the list by subject or name, filter by status, and read the core counts — recipients, sent, opened, clicked — without opening a single email.
You can start from two places, and both end in the same builder:
Click New email. Give it a name if you like — the name is internal; only you see it, and it helps you tell emails apart in the list.
Optionally pick a campaign under Attach to campaign. Attached emails roll their engagement and attributed sales up into that campaign’s report; None (standalone) keeps the email independent.
Choose the audience — who this email goes to. The live reach preview below the picker shows how many people will actually receive it (see Audience & reach preview).
Click Continue to design and pick a starting point: a saved template, a built-in starter, or a blank email.
You land in the email builder. The Email details card at the top of the canvas is where you set the subject and preview text — an email can’t be saved or sent without a subject.
The audience lives on the email, so two emails in the same campaign can target completely different groups.
| Audience | Who receives it | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| All customers | Every subscribed contact with an email address | The default |
| Customer segment | Members of a saved segment | Dynamic — the segment is expanded into recipients at send time, so it picks up members who joined after you scheduled |
| Single customer | One customer you pick | Useful for a personal note or a test of real rendering |
| Manual customer list | Customers you hand-pick | The selection is snapshotted when the email sends |
As soon as the audience selection is complete, a reach preview appears with the estimated recipients and, when contacts are being skipped, exactly why:
The estimate is the number of people who will actually get the email — the skips are already excluded. If the estimate looks low, that’s consent doing its job, not a bug.
You can change the audience from the New email dialog, from Edit name & audience on a campaign’s Emails tab, or from the To row inside the builder — all three edit the same value. Once the email starts sending, the audience locks permanently.
Emails attached to a campaign are sent from the campaign’s Emails tab: open the row’s actions menu and choose Send now or Schedule….
A failed email keeps its Send now action — retrying re-queues only the recipients that didn’t get it.
Send yourself a proof before the real thing:
Only the address you enter receives the test — your customers don’t, and the test doesn’t touch the email’s metrics.
A campaign can hold a whole sequence: the first email is Email 1, and every email you add after it is a follow-up — Email 2, Email 3, and so on. That’s how you build launch note → reminder → last chance inside one report.
Open the campaign and go to its Emails tab.
Click Add email. The follow-up gets its own name and its own audience — you might send the launch to all customers but the last-chance nudge only to a segment of non-buyers.
Design it in the builder, then Schedule it (or leave it as a draft and send it manually later).
Each follow-up sends, pauses, and reports independently, and every one of them rolls up into the same campaign report. Unsubscribed contacts are always skipped — someone who opted out after Email 1 never gets Email 2.
Pausing happens at the campaign level: open the campaign and click Pause while it’s scheduled or sending. That one action:
Resume picks up where the pause left off: emails whose scheduled time is still in the future go back to Scheduled and fire at the original time; emails that were mid-send (or now overdue) continue sending to the recipients that were still waiting. Nobody receives a duplicate.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Draft | Being built. Autosaves in the builder; not queued for anything. |
| Scheduled | Queued for a future date and time. Content and audience are still editable (edits to a scheduled email need an explicit Save). |
| Sending | Recipients are being expanded and messages queued. The audience is locked. |
| Sent | The send finished. |
| Paused | The parent campaign was paused mid-flight; the email resumes with it. |
| Canceled | The parent campaign was canceled or archived before this email finished. |
| Failed | The send hit an error. Send now retries the recipients that didn’t get it. |
The Emails list shows the working numbers per email — Recipients, Sent, Opened, Clicked. Each email also tracks the full engagement set, which you’ll see on its campaign’s report: delivered, bounced, unsubscribed, spam reports, unique opens and clicks, and open and click rates.
Sales are credited by the attribution engine, not by the email itself: clicks on an email’s links become tracked sessions, and orders inside the 30-day attribution window are credited according to the active attribution model. An email send appears as a campaign activity on the Attribution page, and its attributed sessions, orders, and sales show both there and on the campaign report.
Every send is consent-gated automatically — there is nothing to configure per email:
Every link in a marketing email is auto-tagged so the resulting sessions and
orders attribute back to the send: utm_source defaults to sellerlane_email,
utm_medium to email, and utm_campaign follows the preset you choose in
Marketing → Settings — email name, activity ID, email name + activity ID,
or email name + send date. Links you tag by hand are never overwritten.
Auto-tagging is on by default; the full rules, including how tagged clicks flow
into channels and models, are on the
Attribution page.
The From name, From address, and reply-to on every marketing email come from Marketing → Settings, and the builder’s From row shows exactly what recipients will see. Only verified sender addresses are usable — until you verify your own domain, email sends from the platform’s default address. Verify a domain under Store emails.
