Product types

Every product in Sellerlane has a product type that decides how it is fulfilled, what fields appear in the editor, and what the buyer receives after payment. You pick the type when you create the product, under Products → Add product.

The five types

Physical

Tangible goods you ship. Supports inventory, weight, dimensions, and customs info for cross-border orders. Routed and fulfilled through the normal order flow. See Fulfilling orders.

Digital products

Files, license keys, or both — delivered instantly after payment with secure, expiring links. See Digital products.

Events

Bookable sessions with availability, capacity, time zones, and auto-provisioned Google Meet or Zoom links. See Event bookings.

Gift cards

Sold as products or issued by hand, with store-wide balances tracked at checkout. See Gift cards.

Digital products

A digital product delivers content the moment payment clears. Each variant carries its own delivery record, so a single product can offer different files or keys per variant. Set the Delivery Content Type to:

  • File Download — attach files from your library or upload new ones.
  • License Key — draw a unique code from a named License Key Pool.
  • Both — deliver a file and a key together.

For downloads you control the Download Limit (or “Unlimited downloads per purchase”) and Download Expiry (a number plus a unit — minutes through years — or “Link never expires”). Access Instructions are shown to the buyer after purchase. License keys are managed in the License Keys dashboard, where each pool’s keys are stored encrypted and assigned automatically on sale. Buyers download through short-lived, single-use redeem links and can re-request delivery from their order page. Full setup, pools, and the grants view are in Digital products.

Events

An event product is a bookable session. Choose a Booking Type — Regular, Multi-Day, or Full-Day — and an Availability source: Service (a shared schedule) or Teammate (each staff member’s own calendar, with round-robin assignment across allowed hosts). You set the slot length, time zone, 12- or 24-hour display, and how much notice is required (min notice / max advance). Pick a meeting location: None, Google (Meet), Zoom, Phone, In person, or Custom — Google Meet and Zoom links are provisioned automatically per booking when the host’s account is connected. Reschedules and cancellations run through self-service under your approval rules. See Event bookings for the full availability and host setup.

Gift cards

A gift-card product sells denominations as variants (fixed amounts or a custom amount). Buyers can schedule delivery for a future date with a personal message, and balances are tracked automatically and spend store-wide at checkout. You can also issue cards by hand from Products → Gift Cards → Create Gift Card — set the value, recipient, expiration (never, on a date, or after a number of months), and optionally email the recipient.
