Changelog
Product updates for Sellerlane, newest first. This page is the canonical log of what’s shipped.
How entries work
Each release is grouped under a ## Month Year heading. Inside it, individual
changes are tagged so you can scan quickly:
- Added — a brand-new capability.
- Improved — an existing capability got better.
- Fixed — a bug or rough edge resolved.
New releases are added to the top, so the most recent work is always first.
August 2026
Improved — The cash-on-delivery settings page says it shorter
The Settings → Payments → Cash on delivery page has been rewritten to be scannable: every card leads with a short title and a one-line description, and the long explanatory paragraphs are gone. Sections are now named for what they do — Availability (the on/off switch and its channels), Fees and deposits (formerly Rules for paying at the door), Restrictions (formerly Where cash on delivery is available), Order limits, Repeat returns (RTO), Restricted buyers, and Flagged orders. Nothing changed behaviour: every switch, rule, and number is where it was — only the words are fewer. All 30 translated languages were rewritten along with the English. See payments & cash on delivery.
Improved — Offer types are named for what they do
The two offer rules under Offers are now called Box builder (formerly
Build-a-Box) and Frequently bought together, and their forms and lists talk
about an offer throughout — Offer name, Offer price, Create
offer — instead of a bundle. The menu editor’s link type for their storefront
pages is now Offers too. Nothing moved and nothing changed behaviour: the
sidebar group, the pages at /bundles/<handle>, the bundle theme template,
and the bundle_rule_offer Liquid object are all unchanged. Bundle now
refers only to the catalog product type — a real product with variants, a
price, derived inventory, and its own product page — so the two are no longer
easy to confuse. See
bundles, offers & upsells.
Added — Post-purchase add-ons on prepaid orders
Post-purchase add-ons now work on prepaid orders too, not just cash on delivery. Because a prepaid order is already paid, the buyer is sent to your payment provider’s page to pay just the add-on’s price; the item joins the same order once the payment lands, so it still ships in one parcel. The price the buyer was shown is the price that is charged — if anything changes before the payment lands, the add-on is refused and the payment refunded rather than applied at a different price. Fixed bundles are offered on both paths, and the offer card now shows how long the window has left. See bundles, offers & upsells.
Added — Post-purchase add-ons on cash-on-delivery orders
The order confirmation page can now offer one-tap add-ons on cash-on-delivery orders: accepting one appends the item to the same order and updates the amount the courier collects — one add-on per order, within 60 minutes, while the order is unshipped and the store’s COD rules still allow the new total. Add-ons can be a single product or a fixed bundle — a bundle appends its whole kit, itemised and priced as it would be in the cart — and buyers can choose a quantity before accepting. See bundles, offers & upsells.
July 2026
Added — Bundle pages, offer scheduling & smarter discounts
Every active Build-a-Box and Frequently Bought Together offer now has its own
storefront page at /bundles/<handle> — rendered by your theme’s new bundle
template, listed in your sitemap, findable in store search under a Bundles
group, and linkable from navigation with the menu editor’s Bundle link type.
Web addresses are editable, and changing one redirects the old URL
automatically. Each offer now also carries a description, an SEO meta title
and meta description, a featured image that doubles as the page’s
social-share image (else the first product image), and a stored Theme
template choice for alternate bundle templates — ?view= links still
override it. Offers gained Active dates scheduling (start and optional
end, like discounts), a Bundle list section for building a Deals page, and
live storefront previews on the offer forms so you see what buyers will
see while you edit. Offers moved to their own Offers section of the
sidebar. See bundles, build-a-box & upsells.
Improved — Discounts, carts and POS
Product discounts no longer double-discount offer-priced items by default — a new Bundle & offer prices checkbox in each discount’s Combinations section controls stacking, and rewards earned through loyalty or referrals always apply. Carts and receipts now name each saving per item (“Summer Box −₹500”, “SAVE20 −₹200”) instead of one anonymous discounts row. POS catalog search is a single stream: products and bundles together, with All / Products / Bundles filter chips. The bundle sales report now covers upsells too, split by offer kind. See discounts.
Added — B2B wholesale
Sell to companies from the same store. Company accounts hold locations, contacts, and invited buyers; catalogs assigned to a company or location control product and collection availability plus contextual prices, quantity rules, and volume breaks. Locations pay now, on Net 7–90 terms, or due on fulfillment, with a credit limit capping the outstanding balance. Checkout can collect an optional or required PO number, and orders can auto-submit or route to merchant draft review. Company locations can be marked tax-exempt, company orders resolve through the ordinary storefront shipping engine, and an existing customer’s order history can be associated with their company location without changing the source orders. Retail is unaffected: personal discounts and loyalty never apply to company purchases. See the B2B wholesale guide, the B2B wholesale overview, and the commerce compatibility contract for exact scope.
Improved — Audited Liquid Drop and theme-author contract
The Liquid reference now mirrors all 81 audited declarations in the buyer
engine’s sealed Drop inventory across 74 public object pages and
includes Shopify-style, copyable examples for products, variants, collections,
customers, requests, metafields, metaobjects, availability, quantity rules,
price breaks, and Sellerlane event data. New guides document the exact
buyer-visible data boundary,
storefront filter and tag behavior,
and all supported form tag workflows,
including OTP accounts and typed Sellerlane product forms.
The expanded dynamic sources reference now
documents exact expression grammar and type compatibility, metafield .value
paths, metaobject list projections, limits, stale-preview recovery, and the
backend ownership split: seller persistence/catalog definitions versus the
buyer preview’s snapshot-pinned runtime scope graph.
Documentation checks now compare public object-property tables with the audited
buyer-engine inventory, require executable-looking examples on the high-risk
pages, and enforce meeting_status as the only public spelling before the
production build. Built-route link, metadata, heading, image, and diagram checks
run immediately after generation, so either class of failure blocks the build.
Added — Multi-sale POS billing and buyer-device payments
Registers can keep up to ten isolated sale tabs open, name them for waiting customers, and move between them without merging carts, discounts, stock holds, loyalty state, or payment attempts. POS gateway checkout supports provider-hosted pages, Sellerlane scan-to-open QR, and payment links queued by configured SMS or email for Razorpay, PayU, and Cashfree. See POS billing & payments.
Improved — End-to-end order and rewards guide
Published the exact paid/open fulfillment gate, COD cancellation/refund rules, address matrix, split-location inventory flow, durable self-service decisions, event and download recovery, and loyalty/referral/review clawbacks with diagrams and worked examples. See Order & rewards lifecycle.
Added — Exact Shopify theme compatibility contract
Published a single normative reference for Sellerlane’s Shopify-style theme surface: strict Liquid validation, current theme limits, forms and typed product data, 250/25,000 pagination, storefront filter parameter grammar, published locale URLs, compiled publishing, stylesheet subsetting, Section Rendering API responses, standard storefront events/actions, preview security, consent, SEO, and private S3/R2 object policy.
The reference also names every deliberate difference instead of implying
blanket parity. Shopify apps/app blocks, Markets, B2B, selling plans, deprecated
Liquid, password account forms, arbitrary cart properties/attributes, and
standard product attribute filters (filter.v.t.shopify.*) remain outside the
portable surface. Product and variant metafield facets are supported through
trusted enabled definitions. See
Shopify theme compatibility.
